Một loại tế bào APUD dễ bắt màu muối chrom; những hạt trong tế bào chất của chúng bắt màu nâu; chúng đặc biệt được tìm thấy ở các tế bào của tủy thượng thận và thể cận hạch của tuyến xương cụt và tuyến động mạch cảnh, dọc theo các dây thần kinh giao cảm, và ở nhiều cơ quan khác nhau. Chúng chứa những hạt ưa chrom. Xem thêm  enterochromaffin c's và argentaffin c's. Còn được gọi là pheochrome cells và pheochromocytes.
